Department Of Commerce

The Department of Commerce recognizes the pivotal role of commerce and management education in fostering career development and creating employment opportunities. In an era marked by globalized economies and rapid industrial growth, this discipline has garnered heightened importance. Understanding the significance of nurturing students' careers in commerce and management within this rural setting, which has gained international prominence, the Department of Commerce was established in 1975.

The department offers a three-year Bachelor of Commerce program and Honours in Management Studies. These programs, designed with a professional focus, aim to cultivate students' abilities and skills, preparing them for roles as successful entrepreneurs, accountants, managers, bankers, and administrators. Operating from dedicated departmental facilities, including a small departmental Book Bank catering to students' academic needs, the department actively engages students through various activities organized by the Commerce Association. These activities include workshops, seminars, industrial visits, quiz contests, paper-reading competitions, and extension lectures by distinguished speakers. Additionally, students partake in celebrations of occasions like Teachers' Day, Diwali, and Lohri, alongside educational tours and excursions organized by the department.
